I work in an office so I just expect that a few times a year co-workers will bring their kids’ candy/catalogs/whatever around to peddle it for a school trip/new uniforms/whatever. Today was one of those days – a box of Worlds Finest Chocolate bars showed up on the break room table. Now, if you haven’t seen a WFC bar recently, let me warn you that they have shrunk. Perhaps to compensate, there are more flavors now offered – almond, milk chocolate, crisp, and my personal favorite, caramel.
I had my turn at selling said candy bars in 7th and 8th grade when we made $.50 on the $1 for our 8th grade Washington DC trip. My secret weapon – bring a kid cuter than myself and look pathetic outside of K-Mart. That cutie- Greg. Man could that kid sell almond bars. Anyway, most of my trip ended up being paid for by the time Spring of ’93 rolled around.
Who sold candy for Greg though when it was his turn?

Perhaps Greg was so fabulous at selling those almond bars he didn't NEED a wing man?
Hmm. I don't think I ever sold candy bars (girl scout cookies, yes. magazine subscriptions? yes. raffle tickets? yes.)
Who was the peddler this time? I'm glad that Greg helped you get a free vacation. :)
I'm pretty sure I never sold candy bars. Though a couple years ago one of the kids I worked with played little league baseball, and he had to sell candy bars for his team. Translation: Sarah took him into the office and peddled his candy bars!
First off, caramel candy bars are in fact the greatest thing to happen since they invented the 100 Grand. Not soo much a fan of the almond ones however.
Greg used Jonathan as his wingman. Now granted, he wasn't as cute as Greg (not really sure why I'm talking in the 3rd person but maybe it adds affect) but he could sell his fair share. I think that I had my trip completely paid off as well. I think I even recruited other people to sell them for me. One of the girls in Mike's class even sold them.
As long as you kept bringing those hot girls around, I would have sold anything. Candy bars are for the little leaguers, I'm ready to step up to the big leagues. Heck, bring some of your girls in your class around and I'll even start selling MTCI's service at K-Mart for ya! ;-)

I saw a show on Hershey's.
Until the 1960's their claim to faim was the 5 cent bar. But it used to vary in size based on cocoa prices.
Nice Greg! You and Karen are both sales masters, bringing in others to help you out. Did they get a cut?
I love those 100 Grand bars too! I get them in Lima when I visit. Recently I got one, and it had PEANUTS in it. I'm not a fan of this line extension.
I think I sold candy bars once, but did I EVER peddle those Girl Scout Cookies. Top seller every year (except the year I tied with my best friend). :-) The only other thing I sold a ton of were suckers, pizzas, and sub sandwiches.
That caramel bar that we split today Karen was AMAZING!! Thinking back on it... I don't necessarily remember selling them as I said early... but my neighbor friend did. We sold M&Ms, magazine subscriptions and then as a Girl Scout... of course, the cookies!! Kinda miss those days!
We sold mostly GS cookies and Boy Scout popcorn, though maybe we did do candy bars, too. Our parents wouldn't let us do any of the extra crap fundraisers (wrapping paper, etc.) because there were four of us and most folks were already tapped out.
We'd all sell hard, and luckily our dad would take order forms to work and stuff. Never thought of the cuteness factor, though. That's fun. :-)
Well Vicki when you have someone as blindly handsome as myself, old ladies come flocking to buy candy bars from you without even me asking so it didn't really take much work! ;-) haha j/k!
