UGH, my turn AGAIN!?

As I lay in bed this morning, awake and ill at 3:30am, I thought to myself, “why am I getting sick so often lately!?” It’s annoying and disruptive to life to be sick and normally I'm pretty healthy.

Bad news- I think Martha’s right, it is food poisoning. I think so because

  1. Feeling bad happened several hours after a meal (3:30am)
  2. only lasted about 6 hours total
  3. vomiting and diarrhea were the main symptoms

This unfortunately leads me to believe that it must have been my lunch because Jim and Nicole aren’t sick and we ate dinner at home together. It pains me to admit this, but lunch was Skyline (a chicken burrito, not chili). I can’t remember a few weeks back to recall if that’s what I ate the last time this came on or not…

I will say, it continues to amaze me how much better I feel after I throw up. Not perfect, but certainly good enough to go to work for the day. Of course it’s no fun while you’re on your knees praying to the porcelain god, but man, after, it’s like flipping a switch.

perhaps, rather than food poisoning or foodborne illness, you have a food intolerance. Unfortunately foodborne illnesses can occur anywhere from a few hours to months after eating the inflicted food, with the majority between 12 and 72 hours.
Any chance it's happening after similar foods? That could signal more of an intolerance.
And Skyline has a reputation for causing at least diarrhea (admittedly not vomiting, tho, that I'm aware of).

wait for martha to comment...she can reassure you that food poisoning doesn't necessarily onset that quickly...to HELP alleviate your (and our) skyline concerns :)

Awww! I want to give you a hug!

I hope you continue to feel better.

Watch what you eat!!! You know, Christopher may decide to be a vegetarian from all of the illness in womb ;)

I'd agree with Martha on that one - maybe it's a food intolerance? Start keeping a log of when you get sick like this and maybe you'll see some kind of pattern?

Glad that you're feeling better now...

I knew martha would pull through :)

Now?!? I will NEVER like Skyline! Greg took me once and I ate the cheese on a 3-way? That place is the devil! ...And I'm glad to see Christopher is on MY team! :)

Are you sure it wasn't some other type of bug? You mention that Nicole had diarrhea. It could just be that she got that and you got the pukes. Either way, you already know what I think about Skyline.... :P

I hope you're feeling better though.

Dude, I totally commented - maybe I got lost...

I agree with Martha - start a log of when this happens and what you eat. It could be something as simple as an adverse reaction to a component of whatever food you're eating.

Glad you're feeling better.

That's no fun. And we all know how much you love that Skyline stuff. :-D

And I like Jenna IMMENSELY after her Skyline comment. I always knew Greg had good taste! Oh wait...he took her to Skyline though. Well, okay, good taste in PEOPLE, not food. :P

And Kendall said that eating poop can make you sick...and skyline really is poop on spaghetti....LOL!!!

And maybe it's not you, maybe it's Christopher who has a food intolerance. Perhaps down the road you'll be able to eat whatever is bothering you now.

My dad can't eat peppers. They make him sick, EXACTLY the same as you describe. His is just a food intolerance.

Although I read your blog all the time, I've never left a comment! I just want to tell you though that I read once in a pregnancy book that your immune system isn't up to par when your pregnant. It keeps your body from attacking your precious little one. Weird but seems true I was sick all the time and it was summertime.

Karyn,

First of all, Chicken at Skyline? WTF? That's reason enough for you to get sick. Your body's all, I could've had chili and you gave me chicken?!?!

Now, interesting to hear you say that it was chicken. I've been noticing a ... let's say "intolerance" with chicken in myself in the past few months as well. (As recently as today, actually)

My co-worker used to live in California. He couldn't chicken there because of similar issues as yours. Now that he's in Cincinnati, he can eat chicken again. Weird.
