For Martha (and Katrin)

Here's a post not about spiders. It's about pumpkin carving.

This sucker was hard to break in to! I had to pull in the hired guns.

Here we are scooping guts. Nicole wasn't afraid to touch them, in fact at one point I pulled 4 seeds out of her mouth. She's sneaky...

All empty!
"What's in there?"

This design was more challenging than I'd hoped. The size of the pumpkin was the ultimate downfall. Part of the inside snapped where the wall was thin and I had to break out the toothpicks and perform surgery. : ( Nicole seemed pleased though.

"Melmo!"

TOO CUTE!! I love the picture of Nicole looking into the top of the Melmo!
Does she recognize it? I.e. if you ask her where Elmo is, does she acknowledge the jack o lantern?? That's cute.
I also like that she was trying to munch on some (albeit raw) pumpkin seeds. They're good for her! Nutritious. ;)
and oh yea, thank you. I like this post MUCH better. :D

yes, when we turned off the lights (which actually came before the pictures of her on the counter) she said "melmo!".

Problem is that since she knew who it was we had to keep retaking pictures of her since she wanted to spin the pumpkin around to see elmo on the front. Too much action, not enough posing for a good shot! :)

Ask Greg what he carved HIS pumpkin into... It's pretty incredible!

ELMO!

This is fantastic. I wish we had Halloween (I sound like a broken record).

Thanks. :)

Katrin,
If I were you I would just start my own tradition and celebrate Halloween :-)

I love Melmo too! What a smart little girl :-)

That's awesome. I really like it! Nicole's a cutie. You know you succeeded when she recognized it!! :) Was that free-hand or stencil?

Katrin - you, too, can have Halloween and get dressed up and carve a pumpkin. :) It'd be great. What would you dress up as if you could? Extra points if you also went "trick or treating" and expected candy from everyone you see....

I again must state, I love how Nicole sits and smiles pretty for the camera!

oh there are about 6 more that i didn't post of her turning the pumpkin around, sticking the stem in her mouth, etc. she's not the perfect picture model all the time! ha!

I think you should post the out-takes!

These are too cute - I agree with Martha that the one of her looking into the pumpkin is the cutest. :-)

I just wanted to add that I have never seen such a clean pumpkin cleaning. I always have guts flung all over the place and that is without Ryann's help. We are going to carve our's tomorrow night so we will see how much messier we can be!

Nicely done. We're not even carving pumpkins this year. I AM a pumpkin! OYE!

Fantastic!

I would also like to note that I have a picture somewhere of me and you cleaning and carving pumpkins, which was either our junior or senior year of college. If I recall correctly, that event was a bit more messy. Could have been the alcohol involved.

LOVE IT! Alex knew right away who it was.

Martha & Linds - we do have people pretending to have Halloween, but it just doesn't work... What I wish for is that everyone in the neighborhood participates and has pumpkins out and cute little kiddos run around all night... *Sigh*
