Teeth & Queens

I went to the dentist this morning and am happy to report that I have no cavities! : ) I do get frustrated though because I feel guilty eating after getting my teeth cleaned and polished. Like I just ruined all the hygienist’s good work…

On a more fun note, Lori got sneak preview tickets to Marie Antoinette at the Newport AMC last night. We had Dewey’s pizza and headed upstairs to see the show. We had excellent seats mid-way up the theatre and center) and the place was full.

About the movie: Marie Antoinette apparently didn’t do much in her life. At least not according to Sofia Coppola. The movie goes like this: Antoinette of Austria gets married off to Louis XVI of France, Louie is a dud in the bedroom causing Antoinette and her family much shame and grief that she’s not knocked up, Antoinette gets cozy as the queen at the ripe age of 17, has an affair with a really hot general and walks around in gardens and hallways for about “an hour”, French citizens riot over the poverty in the country and the support of the American Revolution, royal family goes into protective custody.

Literally, nothing happened in the entire movie. Half way through you began to wonder when the movie will end because there was no plot - the flick doesn't lead up to anything so the movie could have gone on forever.

When the movie did end (quite abruptly) several people simultaneously said “What??” and then griping about how bad the movie ensued by everyone in the theatre all the way to their cars. Lori’s comment sums it up: “No wonder it was booed at the Cannes.”

Only redeeming factor – really cool costumes. RATING: C-

She was on the Daily Show last night and she herself didn't seem that excited about the film. She was more excited that her favorite show was her last stop before going on vacation. Thanks for the review.

I love that you are doing all of these movie reviews - in the cases of the not good ones, it makes me not feel bad for not going to the movies!

are you a crest kid, Karen? Is that why you have no cavities? :-)

I didn't have a desire to see it in the first place. Glad you confirmed it for me, and at least you didn't have to pay for a crummy movie about French aristocrats.
