mmmmmmm... sugar seeds

Remember a few months back when I expounded on my love for marshmallow peeps? Well, now that it’s fall, my second seasonal sweets love is back in vogue: Candy Corn. Really, how much more wonderful could a treat get? The consistency is good, they aren’t messy at all (no sugar crystals, no melting chocolate, or stringy caramel to deal with), they take forever to get stale, and they’re oh so portable.

The only real problem with them seems to be that they are everywhere come October. There’s a bag at work, a bowl at Mom and Dad’s and on every end-cap at Meijer’s it seems. And they’re so frickin’ addictive! I can’t help but eat 40 at a time!

The only thing I can't figure out is WHERE are these Candy Corn Fields? How do I grow my own?

I can't tell you how many gin-soaked evenings have ended with me trying to get the darned things to grow!!! All I get are ants!

Which brings up MY second seasonal treat...Nailing AUNTS!!!

HEY-YO!

I'll be here all week ladies and gentlemen!

Nothing wrong with the texture? Eating candy corn makes me think of biting into (what I think it would be like) wax teeth! nevermind that it's just 4 different forms of sugar, flavor, color, wax (again, wax teeth?!?). TAke it from the food scientist: There are better foods out there than candy corn!

The reason they don't go stale is because they're already stale! Yuck!

It appears candy corn has a gender affinity: women like, guys dislike.

It's just hands down... women have better taste then men. ;)

Sorry Jimbo, i'm taking the women's side! But I must say, i'm impressed that there are soo many responses to a blog about candy corn. that's how you know you are loved karen.

I'm taking offense to the gender-division for the affinity of candy corn. I am totally not masculine, I'm just educated in both the science and the art of Food!!!! Seems to me candy corn are more science than they are art (even in their multicolored tooth shape).

i can't even believe you said candy corn are more science than art!!!

I love candy corn, too. I only buy it once a year though because I always eat the whole bag at once!

In response to Greg's comment. It's not Karen... it's the CandyCorn we're all after!!! Mmmmm....

Hmmm.... 4 guys comment as to their like/dislike to candy corn. 3 guys say "nay" and 1 says "yeah" with nearly all the girls. Guess a double helix didn't quite cross right in your DNA Greg :)

Throwing chemicals together and calling it a "food" is much more science than it is art. :-)
