40 Weeks - Fully Baked!

How your baby's growing: It's hard to say for sure how big your baby will be, but the average newborn weighs in at a little over 7 pounds and is about 20 inches long. His skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap a bit if it's a snug fit through the birth canal during labor. This so-called "molding" is the reason your baby's noggin may look a little conehead-ish after birth. Rest assured — it's normal and temporary.

After months of anticipation, your due date rolls around, and... you're still pregnant. It's a frustrating, but common, situation in which to find yourself. You may not be as late as you think, especially if you're relying solely on a due date calculated from the day of your last period because sometimes women ovulate later than expected. Even with reliable dating, some women have prolonged pregnancies for no apparent reason. You still have a couple of weeks before you'll be considered "post-term." But to be sure your baby is still thriving, your practitioner will schedule you for testing to keep an eye on her if your pregnancy continues.

My Take: Today is “supposed to be” Nicky’s birthday. She’s still snug inside me as of 12:47pm with no signs of wanting to see the world. I’m not frustrated with this fact as I still think the Fourth of July would be a cool birthday and there's 12 hours left in the day. I DO NOT want to go into labor at my parents’ party though. Therefore, I’d be just as happy with 7/5 or the ever cool 7/7/07.

Jim and I built her swing this morning and it’s sitting in the family room waiting for her. Her clothes are waiting, tags on still just in case she’s a Christopher after all, and I think we’re both mentally prepared for her arrival. Hopefully it’ll be any day now!

Enjoy your last few moments with your family of 2...life is going to change in many wonderful ways you can never imagine, no matter what you have planned for.
Rest while you can!
I will try not to mention the 44 hours of active labor my sister-in-law went through this past May before their cute little guy showed his face...they say it is pretty rare.
She will be here before you know it...Congrats and Good Luck!

OK, so the price of my 7/5/07 date and my 7/9/07+ date options have just risen some more.

If Nicole were to hang in there another week, do these updates continue? Do you have to tell it when you deliver for it to start on what to expect at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, whatever?

How are YOU feeling?

I'm sorry. drug humor is probably not appropriate when giving baby updates.

Well atleast you got to go to the parent's 4th of july party! And look at the bright side, she doesn't have to share a birthday with her aunt-in-law, lindsay. and 7/7/07 would be the coolest day ever to be born... any single digit day would be cool... 7/8/07, 7/9/07.... just hang in there!

and enjoy your sleep!!!
