After hours of cleaning and organizing (who knew that washing windows was like an hour-long job!?), we were ready for our prospective home people when they came at 8:00 yesterday evening. The husband couldn't join his wife for the tour so she brought the wife of my co-worker who recommended us to them. We walked the outside of the house and both ladies were really impressed with the lot’s size and space. The kitchen went over well, as did the “very clean” basement.
Becky said that she thinks her husband, Jim, will definitely want to come see the house first-hand so I hope they’ll call about a second tour.
Only kicker to this is that they don’t want to buy but rather they want to rent which isn’t our preference but is doable. We’re more inclined to consider the renting option because they’re friends of friends and, after meeting Becky, she’s the type of person that I’d be friends with in real life so I’d trust her to take care of the house.
Even better than this news, however, was the email waiting for Jim when he got into work today – a hit off his work’s intranet site where we listed the house. A fellow employee wants more information on it as a potential place for her parents. YES!!!!!
Goal is to put a FSBO sign in the yard and at the neighborhood entrance this weekend.

are you looking into the possibility of renting the house? I'm curious why these people wanted to see you house as a rental unit.
Careful with the friends of friends thing...i.e. that's great, but don't let that swing any decisions b/c you are more inclined "trust" them.
Good Luck! So...I guess if you're blogging that means no Nicole yet. One of my coworkers has a 5 month old baby girl. They haven't named her. Apparently you have 1 year to do it, before you have to go to court (??? why?). They just refer to her as "squirrel" or "little squirrel" now.
Congrats! Glad folks are nipping at the bait...
Glad to hear that there is interest in the house. Hopefully this will continue!
To Martha's comment--I wonder how much arguing they do over names. Not naming my child would stress me out. That poor little girl will have an identity crisis at one if she has no name. :)
Anytime you look at Marti's post you have to remember she lives in the land of hippies and all sorts of other crazies that have their own wierd laws. Ha Ha...squirrel?
Best of luck on the road to the home sale...just don't work too hard...you are 9 months pregnant, but, as you are soon to find out, you probably won't have time to work on it after Nicole comes.
Babies are so wonderful!
Dude, Amy!
The family is Chinese (the parents are; the children were born in USA) (I am assuming "squirrel" is a cute nickname in that culture b/c the family doesn't speak English, so he gave us the English version of what they call her), AND they recently moved from WISCONSIN (i.e. not native Hippies)...and the baby moved here with the nickname.
Yea....having the baby and then taking care of her....Jim's got a lot of work to do to sell that house and move!!! :)
Oh my gosh on the squirrel name thing. A year is WAY too long to have a kid with no name. How is that not something you think about every day and finally decide on something? i'd think it would be something that is right in front of you as a constant reminder of an item on your "to do" list - #16) Name Kid
I think it's funny that you made it #16 on the list...you'd think it would be #1 until they got it done!
I can surely imagine that naming a kid is a really big freaking deal! Hell, I'll admit I've thought about it all my life... you know... when you're like 6 years old and you're like "umm yeah, my kid's name will be latisha or shaquanda" or whatever the heck you decide... how can you go 5 months though without naming them??? That baffles me!
Oh have you heard about the kid that just recently got a name with 27 names in it? All famous boxers... apparently the family is boxing freaks! CRAZY!
