So far on a Saturday

I bought another gun today. Really I bought it but have no intention of using it. Jim couldn't buy it for himself because he has yet to get a new driver's license with current address information- therefore I was the only one who could legally buy it. For the record, this is the second gun I've bought [for him] and it was still pretty weird to be doing it. 8 minutes of a background check and no registry required in Ohio is a bit spooky....

After gun-buying we went to Chik-fil-A for lunch. Nicole climbed all the way to the top of the jungle gym and crawled through the tube by herself. Then, when done, came all the way down by herself the same way. This was pretty surpising as she was about 15 feet in the air. She's still a little nervous to go down the tube slide by herself though.

What a scarily nonchalant statement that was.
How many guys do you own and need????

The deck looks fabulous! And I notice you didn't mention that you lost to me the first game of Scrabble. :P

I have decided that I want to try shooting a gun. I have never done it, but I heard it is liberating and gives you a sense of power. :) Would Jim agree?

Awwww--Nicole is a little monkey. I love seeing little kids climbing, makes me smile.

I was going to make the same comment as Martha:
"Hey, what'd you do this weekend?"
"Oh, you know, bought a gun, went to Chick-fil-a for lunch."

I would also like to know how to shoot a gun, just in case I ever need to know how to do it. I probably won't learn until such time as I'm living in a home with a gun, which I figure is inevitable because Trey taught rifle shooting at Boy Scout camp, and it bound to at least inherit a gun at some point.

You know in Chicago you can't own one? When I was a kid I thought that was a good thing, but as an adult I really don't.

Let me exacerbate this issue even more – I didn’t think anything of it when I wrote it!

The only other gun I ever bought was 4.5 years ago as Jim’s wedding present. He bought one since we’ve been married but then sold it to a buddy. The one I purchased for him on Saturday was to replace the one he sold. Jim only target shoots. We don't have one in a nightstand for protection or anything.

My mother HATES that Jim’s into guns and that his hobby is rubbing off on my family (my cousin now owns 2, uncle owns 1 and brother owns 2). When my brother ‘threatened’ to get a conceal and carry license and teased that he would bring a gun into her house she said she’d put up a “No Weapons” sign on the door just for him. Ha!

For the record, part of our (Jim and mine) deal was that they be locked up in a with a combo (versus key you can find) lock and have individual trigger locks on each. He’s very accommodating to my demands.

I'm with Jen - I have thought about shooting a gun at a shooting range or something.
But I doubt I ever do it. Guns seriously scare me. Not sure about the "liberating" part, either. Jen, have you been listening to Robin on "How I Met Your Mother"???
I remember when I was in NJ and approaching the seriously ghetto of Camden (seriously rotten place in the world), and I saw a guy who didn't bother putting a shirt on that day, but he did strap his gun to his hip.
I a few days from turning 23, and it was the first time I'd ever seen a gun in "real life", excluding police officers.
My grampa and uncles must have had/have guns. Possibly even my dad beings they were/are hunters. My dad stopping hunting with his brothers a couple years ago, though.
