Back in action... sort of

So we got our computer back yesterday, after 3 visits to the computer “doctor” and an eventual complete reimaging of the machine. We had saved most of our stuff to our external hard drive before we initially took it in but when we got it back the second time I downloaded a month’s worth of pictures that didn’t get saved externally. Of course they ignored my call about getting that one file saved and then reloaded so I lost all of Nicole’s pictures for the month of December. UGH.

Should we buy a new computer and just be done with it? Maybe… Jim got a new game for Christmas and our processer isn’t up to running it so he’s SOL. But this was a virus and I'm not sure it could be helped by a new computer. Further, what we use it for is pretty basic – spreadsheets, email, blogging, downloading hardcore porn (just kidding! ha!), etc. We shouldn’t need a new computer but it has been 6 years and those Macs do look pretty cool…..

I suspect we’ll stay where we’re at for a while and see how it goes.

Jim says your computer is 6 years old... it's time for a new one, especially with technology moving as fast as it does.

Oh, and a great service I use is Carbonite... It's $4 a month, and it automatically backs up your hard drive whenever you're connected to the internet. It's very transparent, just does it on its own... it's saved me a at least once.

Get a Mac! Get a Mac! Then I can convince Kendall that we need one too! And I totally don't believe you were kidding about the porn....I lived with you. I know what type of reading material we had on our coffee table. :P

Six years is a darn long time to keep a Windows XP machine running. It's time to get a new machine. For what you're interested in doing with it, check Micro Center. They have machines off corporate lease for very reasonable costs. Or, you can get brand new machines for under $400.

Actually, I'm thinking of upgrading my machine in the next few months anyway. So, you could probably talk me into putting together a machine for you too.

A Mac? Sure. Just don't expect to keep it for another six years. And, be prepared to pay for all of the software upgrades. And, have you checked out the software prices? Good luck with the new printer you'll need that will work with the new Mac. I hope Jim isn't planning on playing that new game on the aforementioned Mac.
