Nicole just got back from her 2mo check-up. All’s well: she’s growing and meeting all of her developmental milestones physically and cognitively. Some highlights from the appointment:
- 13lbs. 3 ounces puts Nicole into the 95% for weight compared to babies her age
- Though she doesn’t look fat, her length of 23 ¾ inches is only in the 50% percentile. Apparently our kid is just dense.
- She still has a little head- 25%
- 4 shots and 1 fluid vaccination later, she’s got band-aids and a full belly showing she’s already over it
Other general accomplishments of our 9-week old:
- She can hold her head up on her own for long durations of time
- She follows objects moved in front of her
- She socially laughs and smiles
- She loves bath time and hates tummy time
One thing we were a little concerned over (and did what “they” tell you never to do- compare your kid to others) was how much she eats. Within the past week, two parents have asked what Nicole eats (3ish oz 8-9 times a day) and then followed it up with the fact that their kid at her age eats/ate 5.5oz per feeding 8 times a day. So, while she seemed content and growing to me, I wondered if we were really starving our kid.
Turns out we’re just fine. Doctor recommended 4oz. if possible (I can’t electronically extract that much but certainly can supply that feeding her the natural way) but stated anything more than 4oz. was unnecessary for a baby this age.
Yeah! We haven’t maimed her yet! :)
Oh, and I'm a pound and a half away from my pre-baby weight. Not all of that weight is in the same place it was back then, but the scale reading wasn't so bad!

She is doing great!! Yeah for Nicole!
I forgot to tell you yesterday that you look great!
Lindsay's opening comment cracked me up :)
Put a new picture of yourself up. SOME OF US don't get to see you very often.....
Good for you on getting back down to your pre-baby weight so quickly! It took Natalie a really long time...and secretly, i don't know if she ever made it back all the way! :) You should buy yourself a new outfit when you hit that 1 1/2 pounds left.
Wow, that's fantastic for only two months after having a baby! My friend who had a baby in April is still working on losing weight...
Glad to hear that things have turned out so fantastic. I totally laughed at Lind's comment. Funny how the docs tell you not to compare, but parents feel obligated to put their two cents in all the freakin time. That's why I try to hold back unless asked a question. :-)
See, you guys are good parents - and you're beautiful, too!
I'm glad the check went well! And Karen, you look absolutly amazing! Not like I don't tell you everyday... or say to you every morning "There's just something different about you...."
